West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes achieved a historic milestone in the 16th round of the English Premier League match against Aston Villa. The 21-year-old footballer opened the scoring just 29 seconds into the game.
This goal became the quickest ever for the Hammers throughout their time in the PL. At the same time, the conceded goal also entered history for Aston Villa, who had never let in a goal so early in English championship matches before.
The absolute Premier League record still belongs to former Southampton striker Shane Long, who in 2019 scored against Watford just 7.69 seconds after the kick-off.
