Barcelona president Joan Laporta went full attack mode during the club’s Christmas event and absolutely torched Real Madrid, accusing them of cynicism, arrogance and endless manipulation.
The whole thing blew up again after Florentino Pérez once more brought up the Negreira payments (Barcelona paying the former vice-president of the referees’ committee). Laporta first sarcastically “diagnosed” his rivals with a severe case of “Barcelonitis” – a pathological obsession with Barça’s success, then quickly switched to straight-up accusations.
He especially targeted Real Madrid’s club TV channel, calling it basically a propaganda machine.
“They confuse power with uneducated despotism. These are people who practice cynicism and extreme arrogance; who have their own television channel from which they constantly spew lies and poison everything around them,” Laporta said.
The Barça president stressed that Real’s actions go way beyond normal football rivalry. He accused Madrid of breaking every possible code of conduct – both ethical and moral. According to Laporta, Barcelona’s sporting success and financial recovery drives Madrid crazy with envy they can’t even hide anymore.
So far Real Madrid hasn’t given any official response to these attacks, but it’s pretty clear that the institutional relationship between the two clubs is completely broken.
