In the Italian Super Cup semi-final Bologna knocked out Inter on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time. The game in Saudi Arabia was super tense and ended with real drama from the spot kicks.
Inter scored very early — in just the 2nd minute Marcus Thuram headed in Alessandro Bastoni’s cross, but Bologna slowly took over and levelled on 35 minutes. Riccardo Orsolini smashed home a confident penalty after VAR spotted Yann Bisseck’s handball.
Second half both sides had good chances to win it, referee even awarded Inter a penalty at one point but cancelled it after checking VAR again. No extra time according to the rules, so straight to penalties to decide who goes to the final.
Bologna ended up winning the shootout 3-2. There were few misses in a row and the decisive kick was scored by Ciro Immobile. So now Bologna will play Napoli in the Italian Super Cup final on December 22.
