Round 6 in Champions League was massive this week — 2025 calendar for the comp pretty much wraps up now (even tho matches carry on into January). Teams couldnt afford to drop points.
The big one was Inter vs Liverpool at San Siro. Not much real football news about the Reds lately, mostly just drama outside the pitch, and Salah wasnt even on the bench. Chivu’s Inter still cant handle proper big teams this season.
First half ended 0-0, quite balanced. Inter tried early pressure, then Liverpool thought they scored but Konate’s goal got cancelled for handball (Ekitike got hit by van Dijk header from corner on 32nd minute). Towards half time Alisson pulled off great save from Lautaro’s close header and Barella’s free kick flew just wide.
Chivu lost Calhanoglu and Acerbi to injury already before the break. Still they kept fighting.
Second half Inter didnt create almost nothing going forward. Liverpool had more of the ball and waited for the right moment. Bradley shouldve scored from tight angle but Sommer saved. Jones was very lucky on 74′ — completely lost it with the ref but only got yellow.
Then right at the end Bastoni grabbed Wirtz by the shirt in the box after cross from left. Wirtz turned around, looked at him and went down quite easy. Ref gave penalty. Szoboszlai hit it hard into top left corner — 1-0 Liverpool, massive three points.
Next: Inter play Arsenal at home, Liverpool travel to Marseille.
