The NBA has revealed the timeline for announcing the expansion with two new teams from other cities

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said that at some point during 2026 the league will make a decision on expansion by adding new teams in Las Vegas and Seattle.

NBA expansion has become pretty much inevitable after signing a record-breaking broadcast rights deal worth 76 billion dollars over 11 years.
Las Vegas hosted the first three NBA Cup final games and since 2004 it has been holding the Summer League every July. The city has a strong sports presence, with NFL’s Raiders, NHL’s Golden Knights and WNBA’s Aces based there.

Seattle also has a huge sports fan base. Many people are waiting for the return of the Supersonics 17 years after the franchise moved to Oklahoma City.
The NBA hasn’t added new teams since 2004 when the Charlotte Bobcats joined the league.
